đź’ˇ Tips & Variations

  • Meat Options: Feel free to use a mix of ground beef and pork for added flavour.
  • Breadcrumbs Substitute: Crushed crackers or oats can be used in place of bread crumbs.
  • Add-Ins: Incorporate diced bell peppers or shredded carrots for extra texture and nutrition.
  • Serving Suggestions: Pair with mashed potatoes and steamed green beans for a classic meal.
  • Don’t overmix the meat: Gently combine the ingredients just until everything comes together. Overmixing can lead to a dense texture.
  • Let it rest before slicing: Resting for 10 minutes after baking helps the juices redistribute and makes for cleaner slices.
  • Use a meat thermometer: For perfectly cooked meatloaf, use a digital meat thermometer  to check for an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
  • Make it your own: Add sautĂ©ed mushrooms or shredded carrots, or swap in ground turkey for a lighter option.
  • Leftovers: Meatloaf makes wonderful sandwiches the next day! Store slices in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
